Ganpati Mahotsav for me

Ganesha has always been an integral part of my life since the very beginning as Lord Shiva has been the idol God we worship everyday and so before offering our prayers to him it is important to start with Ganesha or as I call him Gannu Bhaiya as it makes an indepth connection of mine with my God.

When I started celebrating Ganpati Mahotsav approv 6 years before I hardly knew its importance. It was more like a celebration and sharing happiness.
But this year, Covid-19 has taught a lot to all of us about different perspectives of life. And I have taken all the positives. So as I always want everything to be logically correct and acceptable, I started exploring about Ganesha and just the fact that he is the Vighnaharta, was enough reason for me indulge myself to his devotion.
Keeping all the Covid precautions in mind, I decide to make my own ganpati, eco-friendly ofcourse, as I always wanted so that we can do visarjan at home only.
And my thought did work and looked so simple to me. I was very clear about what I have to do abd confident about that it will work.
So my journey with Ganesha begin with preparing the right soil clay and gving it the right shape and look of cute little Ganpati as you can refer to the pictures.
My 4 years old son really enjoyed the whole journey of creating Ganpati Idol, Ganpati rangoli, DIY temple, DIY diya stand, the decorations, preparations of different kinds of modak and pooja vidhis for 5 days and visarjan that we did in a pot and converted a beautiful plant out of it. It was no less than a great celebration and feeling of happiness which I believe comes with the Aura of Ganpati.
So yes there are a lot of things that holds importance like Ganpati is the symbol of auspiciousness and new beginnings, he is known to take away all negative aura around, modak is the healthiest sweet that we offer to Ganesha, and this year requires special devotion as this year has taught us the new meaning or I should say the lost meaning of life that we have regained, the importance of family, relations, friends, importance of giving time to our health, to keep the environment clean, to stop running to get to the top but the actual essence of life ehich is to live life to the fullest.
My prayers to Lord Ganesha are to thank him for reminding us about what life is, the world needed this lesson as we were selfish enough to destroy our environment and relations and to keep everyone safe from this tragic disease.
This was my take and my way of celebrating Ganpati Mahotsav. Look forward to your experiences.
True prayers are always heard.
Ganpati Bappa Moriya
Agle Varshi Laukariya!
